The Open Double Cloth Bias Sisal Buff Disc from Koyo-Sha offers medium-level cutting and polishing, combining the strength of sisal with the flexibility of cotton bias cloth. Optimized for flat and contoured surfaces, it cools efficiently and provides even compound distribution for quality surface finishes.
Features
Two layers of cloth (cotton) sandwiching bias-cut sisal cloth, with an “open” pleating (irregular waves). This allows better conformity to uneven surfaces compared to tightly pleated or flat discs.
Sisal cloth is cut on the bias (diagonally) before layering, which improves flexibility, reduces fraying, and gives better cooling due to non-aligned fibres.
Uses both treated & untreated cloth. The treated parts help with cutting/performance, untreated parts help preserve finish and reduce heat buildup. Gives balanced cut + finish.
Instead of regular wave pleats, has more irregular wave structure. This helps the disc adapt to surfaces that are not flat, reducing gaps and ensuring more contact.
The disc has a substantial thickness (~17 mm) enabling durability and ability to maintain shape under load. Needs matching flanges (sold separately).
